Do you really think there are no stars in that triangle from here all the way to infinity? Me neither. The "cone" of the Cone Nebula is from dust, probably being thrown off the star at the apex of the cone.
Which filter helps you see the stars?
Which helps you see the hydrogen gas? Note: Infrared filters (color we
can't see - but show the heat of objects) show that there is a star inside
the clump-o-dust at the apex. It's sort of like telling that the furnace
is on. You can't see the flames through the outside, but you can feel the
heat it gives off. Color to astronomers may include things we can't see
(radio waves, microwaves, infrared, ultraviolet, x-rays and gamma rays.)
